Week of 3/16 Lifepoint / Corona Update

March 16, 2020

Dear Lifepoint Family,

Thank you so much for joining us for our online worship services this past Sunday. Nearly 8,000 people connected with us for the 9:30 am and 11:00 am worship gatherings.

Sunday, March 22nd, 2020

In light of the current trends with the coronavirus and the recommendations from the state government and CDC, we will continue with the online-only format this coming Sunday. We will not be meeting at any of our 4 campuses this Sunday, March 22nd, 2020, for regularly scheduled worship services or events. Please join us online for worship and message at either 9:30 am or 11:00 am at lifepointohio.com/watch. There will be tools for all ages of the family, as well as other valuable information.

Lifegroups and Student Groups

Since Gov. Mike DeWine and Ohio health officials have strongly discouraged meeting in person, we are recommending that Lifegroups meet virtually until the end of the term on April 11th. Leaders, keep an eye out for further instructions via email. Lifegroup members, your leader will be in touch with information regarding the specifics of your Lifegroup connecting together virtually.

Missions Update

This is an incredible opportunity for us to live out the gospel “scattered” since we cannot physically gather! This will need to occur through both an organizational strategy as a church/Lifegroup, as well as a personal strategy.

  • Urgent local missions opportunities (tied to Coronavirus response) will be kept current under the Local Lifepoint Outreach Opportunities tab. We will create links to this page for you/your Lifegroup on the “/watch” page and “/coronavirus” page of the website. Please check out https://lifepointohio.focusmissions.com/events for up to date information.
  • There will be an increased need directly around each one of us. Keep your eyes open. Communicate often with the vulnerable around you. Reach out to neighbors. Pick up Rx’s, groceries, etc. Help with transportation of children, etc. as you are able. Invite your friends who may be worried, afraid, or alone to our virtual gatherings on Sundays!

Global Missions Update: As of today, all summer trips are still on as scheduled and open to an application until full. However, travel logistics will not be made until the last minute pending the ongoing watch of travel advisories, etc. If global trips are to be postponed, that decision will be made a month out from the departure date.

All in-person events other than Sunday services will be postponed from now until Easter, April 12th. The decision regarding whether we will meet for Sunday services will be made on a weekly basis. Please stay informed as we release updated information on our website at lifepointohio.com/coronavirus and through email communication.

As you know, this is an extremely fluid situation with information updates happening daily. Please stay informed as we release updated information on our website at lifepointohio.com/coronavirus and through email communication.

Prayer options for this time:

Neighbors - Who is my neighbor? Anyone who is in need. Recommended reading: Luke 10:25-37. Pray for God to open my eyes to anyone who is in need in my neighborhood (i.e., the elderly, health care providers, first-responders, single-parents) and look for simple ways to serve them and offer them encouragement. Pray that God would also provide an opportunity for you to share the gospel with friends and neighbors who may not know Christ.

Nations - Pray for international, national, state & local leaders. Recommended reading: Daniel 2:20-23. Pray for wisdom for all leaders, authorities, and decision makers who are charged with the responsibility to direct us through the current crisis. And that God would use this crisis to humble all leaders so they refocus their efforts for the good of humankind, and forget about self-promotion.

Next Generations - Pray for the ability to teach your children and/or grand-children invaluable life-lessons about the current National Emergency. Recommended reading: Proverbs 22:6, Deuteronomy 11:18-21. Pray that the corona virus pandemic offers you the opportunity to teach your child the importance of resource-sharing, how to trust that despite current circumstances that God is still in control, and how to be patient and kind to others who are stressed out, etc.
