Congratulations on your engagement! We are excited for you as you begin this new season together. Thank you for considering Lifepoint to be a part of one of the most meaningful days of your lives.
At Lifepoint, we believe marriage is God's design and one of His greatest gifts. It is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman that reflects His love, faithfulness, and commitment. While your wedding day is an important celebration, we believe preparing for a strong marriage is even more important.
Our desire is to help you begin your marriage on a solid biblical foundation. As part of the process, you will meet with one of our staff members for premarital counseling as we prepare together for your wedding and more importantly, for your marriage.
The following guidelines explain the expectations our Ministry Leadership Team has established for couples who desire to be married by a Lifepoint pastor. We encourage you to read them carefully before beginning the process.
We are grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside you during this season. Our prayer is that your engagement will be a time of growth as you prepare not only for your wedding day, but for a lifetime of loving and serving one another.
Congratulations again. We look forward to getting to know you both and celebrating this special season with you.
We are honored that you are considering a Lifepoint pastor to officiate your wedding. Because we believe marriage is a sacred covenant established by God, our Ministry Leadership Team has established the following guidelines for couples who desire to be married by one of our pastors. These guidelines are intended to help you begin your marriage on a strong biblical foundation.
We ask that both of you have committed your lives to Christ and that Lifepoint is your church home. It should also be your sincere intention for Lifepoint to remain your church home after your wedding.
In recent years, some couples have attended Lifepoint only during their engagement and then stopped attending after the ceremony. We believe God designed the local church to be the primary place where believers are encouraged, challenged, cared for, and equipped to grow in their relationship with Christ and in their marriage. Therefore, our desire is for every couple to have consistent spiritual shepherding both before and after the wedding.
We ask that you not be living together or sexually active during your engagement. This is not simply a preference or church policy. We believe this is what Scripture teaches.
We understand that many couples come to Lifepoint from different backgrounds and at different places in their faith journey. Some are already living together or have been sexually active before coming to Christ or becoming involved at Lifepoint. Our desire is not to make anyone feel judged or condemned. Instead, we ask couples to make a commitment to follow God's design for marriage from this point forward until their wedding day. We are committed to walking alongside you and helping you honor the Lord in this season.
We ask every couple to complete a required number of premarital counseling sessions with one of our staff pastors or someone appointed by them. These sessions are designed to help you build a healthy, Christ-centered marriage. During your time together, you will discuss communication, covenant, and conflict, family dynamics, intimacy, and budgeting and finances, all through the lens of Scripture. You may also be asked to read one or two books and complete some simple homework assignments. While we call it premarital counseling, these meetings are really conversations about what makes marriages thrive according to God's Word and how to build a lifelong relationship that honors Him.
We recognize that every couple comes to us from a different place in their relationship with God. Our goal is not to create unnecessary obstacles but to help you faithfully live out what Scripture teaches. We believe our pastors have the responsibility to prepare couples for marriage according to biblical standards and to set them up for success.
We also understand that some couples who attend Lifepoint may choose to have someone else officiate their wedding, and we completely respect that decision. Even if one of our pastors is unable to perform your ceremony because of these guidelines, we would still be glad to help you through premarital counseling if that would serve you well.
We recognize that every person's story is unique, and we believe God's grace is greater than our past. If either of you has been previously married, we would welcome the opportunity to meet with you, hear your story, and prayerfully walk through your circumstances together. Our desire is to understand your story, discern how God has been at work in your life, and help you move forward with wisdom and a clear understanding of God's design for marriage.
We ask that your wedding ceremony reflect the sacredness of the covenant you are making before God. A Lifepoint pastor may choose not to officiate if the bride, groom, or member of the wedding party arrives intoxicated/under the influence of alcohol or drugs at your rehearsal or on your wedding day. It is the couple's responsibility to communicate this expectation to everyone involved in the wedding.
While some of our campus facilities may be available for weddings, Lifepoint is not equipped to serve as a traditional wedding venue. Because our auditoriums remain set up for Sunday worship and we do not have dedicated facility teams to coordinate weddings, availability is limited and varies by campus. For these reasons, many Lifepoint couples choose to celebrate their wedding at a venue specifically designed to host weddings. If you have questions about using a Lifepoint facility, please contact your local campus to discuss availability and any applicable guidelines.
If you would like to begin the process, please complete the wedding request form below. The information you provide will help us get to know you, learn more about your relationship, and understand your wedding plans.
While we will make every effort to accommodate your preferred wedding date and pastor, we cannot guarantee that a specific pastor will be available. Our pastors have a variety of ministry responsibilities, and availability varies throughout the year. If your requested pastor is unavailable, we will gladly connect you with another member of our pastoral team.
After we receive your completed form, someone from our team will contact you regarding the next steps and scheduling your first meeting with a pastor. We look forward to helping you prepare for a Christ-centered marriage.
