Praying for Stowe Mission

34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ – Matthew 25:34-40

This week, we meditate on these beautiful and challenging words of our Savior. As we do, let’s spend some time in focused and intentional prayer for an incredible ministry in our city, Stowe Mission of Central Ohio. Every week, hundreds of volunteers serve and love the homeless and hurting in our city through the holistic ministry that you’ll find offered at Stowe. You can see for yourself some of what is going on and how you can become involved at Stowe Mission by visiting

Hunger Ministries

  • Community Kitchen & Food Pantry – 164,704 Meals Provided in 2014
    • Pray that those that come through the doors at Stowe to have their physical needs met, also find their spiritual needs met through Christ.
    • LifePoint will be conducting a Bag Hunger campaign beginning on November 22nd. Pray that we would all be faithful to participate and help stock the shelves at Stowe. The Salvation Army, which helps to stock the food pantry shelves, is currently unable to contribute at this time. This leaves Stowe completely dependent upon local church partners to supply enough food for those that are in need of it. Pray that as our families come together to help meet this need that we do more than buy and bag groceries. Pray that God moves our people to GO to the center to love those that will receive them.

Outreach Ministries

  • Block Parties
  • Tutoring for Children
  • School Supplies Give Away
  • Coat & Blanket Give Away
  • Toy Check Give Away
  • Homeless Advocacy
  • Employment Education & Training
  • Human Trafficking Prevention / Intervention
    • Pray that Stowe Mission is known as a place that does not only care about what happens in the Stowe facility, but in their community. Pray that they are a light on the south side of Columbus that the Lord uses to draw people unto Himself.
    • Pray that God would direct some of our LifeGroups to long-term, committed partnership in difference capacities at Stowe.
    • Pray for the potential multiplication of this ministry into different areas of the city – specifically the North side.

Health Care Ministries – 1074 Patients Served in 2014

  • Dental Clinic – 467 Patients Served
  • Vision / Eye Clinic – 178 Patients Served
  • Mobile Medical Clinic – 329 Patients Served
  • Breathing Association – 100 Patients Served
    • On December 18th Stowe Mission will be opening a pregnancy ministry clinic that will provide pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, and counseling for individuals that find themselves in a crisis pregnancy.
      • Their greatest need for this clinic to become a reality is a Volunteer Medical Director. Please pray that God brings the right doctor to this position.
      • Pray for Cindy, who will be the onsite director for this new ministry. Pray that God would grant her, and her soon to be staff of volunteers, the ability to speak truth and love to all that they come into contact with and that they would “take up the full armor of God” (Ephesians 6:13) as they go into spiritual battle on behalf of vulnerable women and children in our city.
    • Pray that healthcare professionals would be equipped and empowered by the Holy Spirit to utilize their God given gifts, talents and expertise for the sake of the Kingdom. “Each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms” – 1 Peter 4:10
      • Stowe is praying for 1-2 more optometrists to volunteer some of their time to work at the mission. There is great need.
      • Stowe is also looking for additional dentists to participate in the mission. Additional dentist would allow for them to extend the clinic hours and serve more individuals without over-taxing their current volunteer staff.

Church Ministries

  • Worship
  • Sunday School
  • Laotian Church
  • Fresh Start
    • Pray that the church and chapel at Stowe continue to share the good news of Jesus Christ with their community. That they are bold “in proclaiming Jesus Christ as Lord” (2 Corinthians 4:5) and do not grow weary of doing good. Above, pray that those that enter the church or meet the church on the street find the love and compassion of Jesus Christ.

Let love be genuine, Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with on another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.  – Romans 12:9-18
