Week 7 – April 23-30
Rooted in Gospel Identity
This week, we’re going to return to where this 7 week prayer journey began. We’re going to return to the Gospel. Ephesians 2 declares that we were each dead in our trespasses and sins…BUT GOD. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved…”
This week, our challenge to you is that you would intentionally memorize Ephesians 2:1-10. If you still have it memorized from a few weeks ago, great! You can meditate on it throughout this week and any other time. If you’ve forgotten the passage or maybe never quite got it memorized, this is your chance to commit it to memory. You’ll be shocked how quickly this will happen if you simply commit to spend 5-10 minutes in the morning and evening in the passage. As you memorize it, we believe that you’ll find that God uses His Word to center your heart on the great Gospel message: you were dead in your sin, but God has saved you by grace.
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Finally, this week please pray that God would make Lifepoint a group of people who are fully devoted to Him. Pray that He would continually remind us of the greatness of the Gospel and the greatness of the opportunity that we each have to walk in the good works for which He created us.
