Week 4 – April 2-9
Pray for our Neighbors
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Let’s follow Paul’s thought here for a moment. Since we have been justified by faith…We get some stuff that we did not have before we were in Christ. What’s the stuff that we get, since we have been justified by faith? We get peace with God. We get access into God’s grace. We rejoice in hope and in our sufferings. God’s love has been poured into our hearts. The Holy Spirit has been given to us.
Next question: Do you think that your neighbor’s life would be better if he or she had those things? If he had peace with God…if she had access to God’s grace…if they had joy that endured in good and bad times…if God’s love had been poured into their hearts by the Holy Spirit…would that be better for them?
Of course it would. You know this, because you’ve experienced it first hand.
Life with Jesus is better.
Let’s take this week to pray for our neighbors. Specifically, let’s pray that God would reveal Himself to them so that they would trust Jesus and begin their life with Him. Pray that God would send faithful believers into our neighborhoods to invite people to church Easter Sunday.
So, who can you pray for this week? Who can you invite to church with you Easter Sunday?
